It made sense to us that our next environmental effort would be to make Pasta Prima Organic and Gluten Free flavors available in renewable packaging: plant-based plastic. Compared to petroleum-based plastic, its manufacturing generates less greenhouse gas and requires less energy. What else makes plant-based plastic earth friendly? It is primarily made from corn which is renewable because it can be grown again. Most plastics are made from petroleum which is nearly impossible to regenerate. Corn sequesters carbon as it grows and reduces our dependence on oil.
